GESPECOR VERSION 4.0

NEW IN VERSION 4.1

In version 4.1 of GESPECOR several new features have been implemented. Also some bugs present in previous versions have been corrected. The most important changes are the following:

  1. The computation of the full energy peak efficiency has been included. The users should be aware of the fact that the values of the efficiency depend strongly on the detector parameters. Because frequently the detector data are not known with a sufficient accuracy, it is always recommended to check the computed values of the efficiency for some measurement configurations against experimental values of the full energy peak efficiency.

  2. The computation of the total detection efficiency was included. The comments presented above about the sensitivity of the results upon the detector data apply also in this case.

  3. The possibility to use the efficiency transfer method for the computation of the full energy peak efficiency for a target measurement setup on the basis of the efficiency for a reference measurement setup was provided. The results obtained using the efficiency transfer method are less sensitive to the uncertainty of the detector data than the results obtained by a direct computation of the efficiency. Therefore, if the reference measurement was calibrated using high quality standard sources, the efficiency transfer method provides better results for the efficiency of the target measurement than the direct computation of the efficiency.

  4. The possibility to use the results of transmission experiments carried out with uncollimated point sources for the correct evaluation of the linear attenuation coefficient was included.

  5. The procedures for the preparation of decay data files required for the computation of the coincidence summing corrections were completely revised. It is now possible to prepare decay data files for all the pure gamma ray sum peaks and also, for sum peaks including contributions from the total absorption of X-Rays. The K alpha and K beta X-Rays can be processed separately. A user friendly possibility to prepare the decay data files for all the peaks of a given nuclide was implemented.

  6. The KORDATEN. ALL library was extended and updated. It contains now data for approx. 225 nuclides.
VERSION 4.2

In version 4.2 several computational routines were improved and the bugs discovered in the meantime were fixed. At the level of interfaces only minor modifications were made. The GESPECOR User's Guide was revised to include all the changes and extensions up to version 4.2.
